Revealed Landscapes
During the group exhibition We Are Still Nature ↗ at De Egelantier (Otegem), Soetkin captures temporary, hidden landscapes on the human body – not with a camera, but with plaster.
Just as a photograph captures a fleeting moment, a sculpture captures a unique fold, crease or movement of the skin. The result is a tangible landscape: a stilled, sometimes manipulated or isolated snapshot of the body.
The sculptures, though sensual in form, are created on innocent parts of the body. Each sculpture becomes part of a growing, collective artwork: a collection of stilled moments from different people.
More about the project and a look at the landscapes collection can be found here.
